Mary Adams, Social Worker, was recently named South Mississippi State Hospital’s 2005 Employee of the Year. Mary is a native of Lumberton and a graduate of Lumberton High School. She received her Social Work degree from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2000 and joined the SMSH team in July of 2001. In her spare time, Mary enjoys reading, playing with her son and participating in activities at Bealueh Baptist Church.

Mary says she enjoys working with the staff at SMSH and likes her job because she is able to use community resources to help our patients. To her fellow employees, she is seen as a compassionate, trustworthy and conscientious person. When it comes to teamwork, Mary "shines." She is always willing to do whatever is asked of her and volunteering to do more than required. She speaks only positive statements about others and does everything she can to promote a positive working relationship between staff members. Mary has the ability to see beyond the surface issues in order to help meet the needs of the patients. She is true to her word and sincerely cares about her coworkers and the patients.
