Forrest General’s Spirit Girls Present Spring Fashion Show
Spirit Girl Lauren Dyess, eighth grader at Petal Middle School modeled spring fashion from Aeropostale.
Forrest General’s Spirit Girls recently presented a Spring Fashion Show at Turtle Creek Mall. Girls modeled clothes from Turtle Creek retailers, including Belk, New York & Company, Dillards, Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, and Aeropostale.
The main objective of the Spirit Girls program is to offer a fun way for girls to not only learn about fashion and inner beauty, but to also help them develop confidence, poise and self-esteem; and to educate young ladies and their parents on issues facing today’s teens such as peer pressure, eating disorders, exercise and fitness.
The Spirit Girls teen board is made up of young ladies from throughout the hospital’s 17-county service area and was developed in an effort to reach young women through events targeted at promoting self-esteem and encouraging healthy lifestyles. Each year, Spirit Girls participate in events including community projects, fashion shows and other charitable events. The board consists of a Junior Squad for girls in seventh and eighth grades and a Senior Squad for girls in ninth through twelfth grades.
The Spirit Girls program is a part of the Spirit of Women program at Forrest General. Spirit of Women is a national movement - not just a media campaign or a series of events, but a movement led by hospitals across the United States and supported by corporate partners and national media with the mission to move women to take action for better health…mind, body and spirit.
With more than 6,000 members, Forrest General is the exclusive Spirit of Women hospital for South Mississippi.
