Hess honored at South Mississippi State Hospital
Karl Hess, a nurse at South Mississippi State Hospital since 2006, has been chosen as the SMSH Employee of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2008. To earn this honor, employees are nominated by peers and supervisors. A committee reviews and makes the selection based on the nominee’s commitment to the hospital’s vision and values.
SMSH is a 50-bed acute care facility in Purvis, that offers mental health treatment and services for adults in the southern part of the state.
Hess received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Mississippi State University in 1998 and an Associates degree in Nursing from Pearl River Community College in 2005. He was rated an outstanding student by his nursing instructors. Hess worked at Forrest General Hospital in ICCU before coming to SMSH.
Commended by coworkers as a role model, Hess frequently volunteers to assist with projects and training beyond the realm of his prescribed duties. He is often listed by patients on satisfaction surveys as an excellent nurse.
Hess lives in Carriere, where he recently built a new home.
