King's Daughters Medical Center Hosts Nurse Training Seminar

King’s Daughters Medical Center, in Brookhaven, hosted an advanced nurses training class to produce 23 certified nurses trained to provide patient care to victims of sexual assault.

Nurses from across the state participated in the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners course. The training consisted of a 40 hour class, including classroom review, live examinations, photography instructions and a mock run through in the courtroom.

The SANE Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program is provided by the Mississippi Coalition Against Sexual Assault and administered through the state attorney general’s office. The course meets all required standards for certification listed by the International Association of Forensic Nurses.
