Singing River Health System has honored Marilyn McMillian, Nancy McGill and Tara Johnson as June Employees of the Month.
Singing River Hospital has honored Marilyn McMillian, registered nurse, Comprehensive Rehab Center.
McMillian was born in Shreveport, La., where she attended Woodlawn High School and later graduated with a nursing degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Prior to joining Singing River Health System in January 2006, McMillian worked for 13 years at the Jackson County Health Department and served in the U.S. Army for seven years. She is currently an active member in the U.S. Army Reserve.
McMillian lives in Moss Point, Miss., with her husband Freddie. She has two children, Alvin and Jacqueline, and two grandchildren. When not working, McMillian enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with her family.
McMillian enjoys her working for SRHS and said, “It’s challenging and gives me an opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team. I have direct patient care as a nurse and caring for others makes a difference in peoples lives each and every day.”
Ocean Springs Hospital has honored Nancy McGill, team leader, Environmental Services.
McGill was born in Chicago, Ill., and was raised in Sand Diego, Calif. and Las Vegas, Nev. After graduating high school and college, McGill worked for the Grand Casino for five years. She joined SRHS in 2006.
McGill currently lives in Gautier, Miss. with her husband, Dale. She has five children and 5 grandchildren. In her spare time, McGill enjoys reading and gardening.
According to McGill, she enjoys working for the Health System because it is clean, smoke free, employs great people and has great bosses. She likes to do work that helps people. In order to provide world-class service to hospital guests, McGill said, “I try to clean my best, so the patient feels safe from infection.”
The Outlying Facilities have honored Tara Johnson, clerical coordinator, Pascagoula Family Practice.
Johnson was born and raised in Jackson County and grew up in the Forts Lake community. She graduated in 1994 from Moss Point High School and started work at Pascagoula Family Practice in July 1995 when Dr. Emile Baumhauer was still in practice. Johnson continued working for this group of physicians until the group was acquired by Singing River Health System in 2009. This July will mark 17 years Johnson has worked for Pascagoula Family Practice.
Johnson currently lives in Hurley, Miss. with her husband Robert. She has two children, Hannah and Haylee. When not working, Johnson enjoys spending time with her family and shopping for supplies needed for the construction of her first home.
Johnson enjoys working for SRHS and said, “I work for a great group of physicians and staff that I have grown to love and become family with. I can’t see myself anywhere else.” Johnson believes that “a warm and friendly personality makes patients feel welcome and comfortable as well as making them feel better.”
