Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville is now offering the latest treatment for kidney stones, Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy, a shock wave treatment for kidney stones. The entire procedure lasts four hours. Previously, the hospital was referring about 100 patients annually to other facilities for similar treatment. Corkern top bidder for hospital

Dr. Bob Corkern appears to be the highest bidder for purchase of Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville. City and county officials accepted Corkern’s total bid of $28.1 million for ownership. He is the current hospital administrator. The old South Panola Hospital known as the west campus is not included in the sale of Tri-Lakes.

Corkern's bid beat out the next-closest bidder, LifePoint Hospitals, Inc., which bid for $23.3 million. Baptist Memorial Healthcare and Resurgence Healthcare dropped out of negotiations earlier on in the process.

Corkern's bid for Tri-Lakes came through a partnership he belongs to, Physicians and Surgeons Group, LLC. Corkern is putting down a $4 million non-refundable deposit as a promise to fulfill his bid.
