Hancock Medical Imaging Center Opens

 

The Hancock Medical Imaging Center at 4551 Shepherd Square in Diamondhead opened for business on Monday, November 1, and features new advanced equipment which provides fast and comfortable exams that patients appreciate.

The new facility on the Hancock Medical Diamondhead Campus features the Vantage Titan Open Bore MRI which makes exams more comfortable for patients while providing outstanding images for diagnoses. The high quality MRI magnet provides superior image quality and its high performance gradients support a wide range of imaging techniques. The ultra-short, open-bore magnet allows the patient’s head to remain outside of the gantry for many procedures. The wide opening accommodates larger patients with a greater sense of openness.

A frequent issue patients have is claustrophobia and acoustic noise. The Titan’s open bore design and sound reduction technologies provide better patient experiences resulting in better clinical outcomes.

In addition to MRI, other services offered include CT scans, ultrasound studies and radiographic fluoroscopy.

Hancock Medical Center welcomes orthopedic surgeon

Tim D. Jackson, M.D., board certified orthopedic surgeon, has joined the active medical staff of Hancock Medical Center and is seeing patients in Hancock County at his new office at 4540 Shepherd Square, on the Hancock Medical Campus in Diamondhead.

Services include arthroscopic surgery, sports injury treatments, sprain and fracture treatment, total joint replacements, minimally invasive surgeries, and workers compensation injuries.

Dr. Jackson is a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine and he did his internship and residency at Emory University Hospitals in Atlanta. He is a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Society and he has practiced orthopedic medicine on the Mississippi Gulf Coast since 1995. He was a member of the Army National Guard, where he served eight years in the army medical corps.

He, his wife, and their five children live in Pass Christian.

Lions Club International Foundation funds Hancock Medical Imaging Room in Diamondhead

The Lions Clubs International Foundation presented Hancock Medical with two checks on Thursday totaling $107,507 to buy new equipment for the Imaging Suite in Diamondhead.

Hancock Medical Center in Bay St. Louis was the recipient of two generous donations from The Lions Clubs International Foundation totaling $107,507 for its imaging suite at the Hancock Medical Multi-Specialty Clinic, located in Diamondhead, MS.

Howard A. Jenkins, International Director of The International Association of Lions Clubs, and Dolores M. Tanner, Vice District Governor for District 30-N and a member of the Diamondhead Lions Club, presented the checks to Hancock Medical Administrator Hal W. Leftwich at the hospital’s annual health fair in Diamondhead on May 17.

Leftwich and Hancock Medical knew about the first check for $42,782, but a second check for $64,725 was a surprise.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support from the Lions Clubs International Foundation,” said Leftwich. “Our dedicated staff has been working hard to bring comprehensive health care services to all of Hancock County. These donations today by the Lions Clubs International Foundation help us bring imaging services to this growing area of our county and many people will benefit as a result of this generous gift.”

Local Lions Club member Tanner said the hospital is well-deserving of the funds.

“Hancock Medical has been a beacon of hope for people in need,” said Tanner. “The staff continues to be there for people, as they were immediately after Hurricane Katrina. Hancock Medical employees who weathered the storm are heroes and the Lions are glad to support the health care services they provide in Hancock County.”
