Nursing program taking applications

Holmes Community College is accepting applications for the practical nursing programs at the Goodman, Ridgeland and Grenada campuses.

To request application packets for Goodman, call (662) 472-9058. The number for Ridgeland is (601) 605-3302; for Grenada, (662) 227-2350. The deadline for submitting applications with supporting documentation is May 6.

Nursing grads fare well on certification

For the third year in a row, students in Mississippi University for Women's Division of Nursing graduate program achieved a 100 percent success rate on the American Nurses Credentialing Center national board certification exam for nurse practitioners.

Over the last three years, the graduates have surpassed the national average of 87 percent in 2002, 85 percent in 2003 and 88 percent in 2004 by achieving a 100 percent pass rate for each testing period.

Successful completion of a national board  certification such as the exam offered by the ANCC is required for nurses planning to practice as a nurse practitioner in Mississippi.
