Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County recently welcomed three new colleagues to the hospital.
Tammy Tomlinson will be assuming the role of nurse manager in the women’s center, one of the busiest areas in the hospital. Her new role will include overseeing labor and delivery, post-partum and the newborn nursery. As a nurse manager, she will oversee quality and safety initiatives, staff and patient rounding and patient care/satisfaction.
Shanna Melton is the new nurse manager on the medical-surgical unit, where she will be responsible for quality and safety initiatives, patient care/satisfaction, and staff and patient rounding. The medicalsurgical unit is designated for post-operation patients, general medicine and pediatrics. Melton has worked with Baptist-affiliated hospitals for eight years. Most recently, she served as the head nurse for the cardio-pulmonary floor at Baptist DeSoto.
Karen Young is the new nursing informatics coordinator, and she will be overseeing the transition to paperless electronic medical records. Karen most recently worked as a nurse in the women’s center since January 2011.
Baptist Memorial Hospital- Union City has named Lori Brown, registered nurse, as its chief nursing officer. As CNO, Brown will assume accountability for managing resources to assure safe nursing practices and patient services. She will provide input into the hospital’s strategic planning activities as a member of the administrative team.
