Tippah County Hospital will celebrate 56 years of service to their community in April. The hospital first opened in April of 1950 with 40 beds. The land was the first approved in the nation under the Hill-Burton Act. Since opening in 1950, additions were made in 1958, 1965, 1969, 1977 and 1996. Currently, the hospital is licensed for 45 acute care beds and 40 long-term-care beds.
The Wellness Center, a $1.2 million facility, opened in April 1998. This 24,000-square-foot facility includes an indoor pool, spa, racquetball courts, indoor and outdoor walking tracks, aerobic exercise room, weight training, cardiovascular equipment, saunas and steam rooms.
