Healthcare providers have until Feb. 16 to submit corrections and revisions to their wage-related data and occupational mix data for the 2019 wage index.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services posted on its website the revised wage data and occupational mix survey data for fiscal year 2019. These public use files reflect hospitals’ FY 2015 cost report data and the Jan. 1 - Dec. 31, 2016, occupational mix survey data, which will be used to calculate the Medicare area wage indexes for the FY 2019 proposed inpatient prospective payment rule. The IPPS rule is scheduled for publication by CMS in the spring.
Hospitals have until Feb. 16 to submit requests (including supporting documentation) for:
- Corrections to errors in the January public use files due to CMS or fiscal intermediary mishandling of the wage index data; or
- Revisions of desk review adjustments to their wage index data as included in the January public use files.
Fiscal intermediaries must receive the requests and supporting documentation by Feb. 16. No new requests for wage data revisions will be accepted by the fiscal intermediaries at this point, as it is too late in the process for fiscal intermediaries to handle data that is new in a timely manner.
