In a new report, the American Hospital Association’s Long-Range Policy Committee issues a call to action for hospitals to be leaders in creating a culture of health. Focusing on the “wellness” pillar of the AHA’s Health For Life roadmap for improving America’s health care system, the report highlights practices that hospitals use with their own employees, examples of promising practices and how-to recommendations to help hospitals continue to be leaders of health in their communities.
“Hospitals are closely interwoven with the communities they serve. Therefore it is paramount for hospital and health system employees to be example role models for healthy living and fitness in those same communities,” said AHA Chairman John Bluford, 2010 chair of the committee. The AHA and its American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration will host a free webinar on the report Feb. 23. To register, click here.
