The American Physical Therapy Association has established a fund that will match member, corporate and staff contributions made to the American Red Cross on a 2-to-1 basis, up to $50,000. To facilitate tracking these contributions, please contribute through the link provided on APTA's Web site at www.apta.org.
The money that APTA contributes to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund will be used to assist with the redevelopment of the physical therapy profession in areas affected by the hurricane. The board's Task Force on Hurricane Relief will work closely with the leadership in Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi to distribute this money. APTA already has donated $11,000 to the American Red Cross, in addition to "in-kind" donations of last year's National PT Month clothing items. APTA also has provided a waiver of dues for three months to those members located in affected zip codes areas with a dues renewal date prior to January 1, 2006.
