Tetanus Vaccine Clinics Open in
The Mississippi Department of Health has opened tetanus vaccination clinics in the following counties: George, Stone, Pearl River, Harrison, Jackson and Hancock. All persons who have sustained a cut or puncture wound, and who have NOT received a tetanus booster in the last 10 years, are urged to visit a clinic for vaccination.
Tetanus is a risk when anyone gets a puncture wound or cut, because tetanus bacteria in soil can enter the body through a wound or cut. Persons who have received the standard childhood series of immunizations, and have received a booster shot within ten years, will NOT need a tetanus vaccination. Anyone who receives a puncture wound contaminated with sewage, dirt or flood water, should thoroughly clean the wound and have a healthcare provider determine whether a tetanus booster is necessary.
The following Tetanus Vaccine Clinic locations are open Saturday 8:00 a.m.โ 3:00 p.m., Sunday 2:00 p.m. โ 6:00 p.m., and Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. โ 5:00 p.m.:
