The Department of Health and Human Services has awarded more than $12 million in grants aimed at increasing access to health and behavioral health care services for minority individuals, families and children affected by Hurricane Katrina. The grants include support for innovative approaches to relief activities by health disparities centers in the Gulf Coast and surrounding states, assistance through faith-based and community organizations, and enhanced communications through minority media outlets.
