Gov. Haley Barbour recently announced the names of four additional Issue Committee chairs for the Governor's Commission on Recovery, Rebuilding and Renewal. Chaired by Jim Barksdale, the commission focuses on giving local leaders access to ideas and information as they work together to rebuild the Gulf Coast and South Mississippi.
Chris Anderson, chief executive officer of Singing River Hospital System and a member of MHA's Board, will serve as chair of the Health and Human Services Committee. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Jackson County Economic Development Foundation and as a member of the Economic Development Task Force for Blueprint Mississippi.
Dr. Reginald Sykes will serve as chair of the Faith-based and Non-Governmental Organizations Committee. Sykes is vice president of the Jefferson Davis Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Gulfport.
Serving as chair of the Finance Committee is D'auby Schiel. Schiel is the Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Coast Community Bank.
Duncan McKenzie is chair of the Small Business Committee. McKenzie is regional vice president of Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc., where he oversees properties in Mississippi and Missouri. McKenzie is currently chairman of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce.
The announcement of these persons completes the list of committee chairs for the Governor's Commission on Recovery, Rebuilding and Renewal. Other committee chairs announced earlier include:
