Miss. House votes to restore $100M of budget cuts

The House recently passed SB 2495 to restore $100 Million in budget cuts. The amended Senate bill passed by a vote of 73-47. Budget cuts would be restored by using $50 million in rainy-day funds and another $50 million from a 1998 tobacco settlement.The  The bill will now go to the Senate.

Today, the House is expected to discuss legislation to restore a portion of Governor Haley Barbour's state budget cuts for the current fiscal year.  The governor announced the most recent round of cuts, totalling $216 million, on Friday.  Click here to view the story.
