Iowa hospitals launch employee relief effort
The Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) has set up a relief fund to help the hundreds of hospital employees who suffered devastating losses from recent tornado and flood events. The association says it will disperse 100% of donations—which are tax deductible—to affected hospital staff. “We have heard, over and over, the stories of hospital employees who have set aside their personal losses while they provided care and comfort to their neighbors,” said Jay Christensen, chair of the IHA Board and CEO of Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa, in a release. “Now that Iowa is beginning to recover from these catastrophic events, it’s time we provided these employees with some assistance and peace of mind.” Donations by check should be made payable to the “Iowa Hospital Employee Disaster Relief Fund” and sent to: Iowa Hospital Association, 100 E. Grand, Suite 100, Des Moines, IA 50309-1835. Credit card donations will be accepted through the IHA Web site.
