The Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA) is offering MGT-407-“Strategies for Public Information Officers” for FREE on August 27th at Gulfport Fire Dept. and again on September 27th at the Desoto County EOC.
This instructor-led training is a free 7.5 hour course specifically designed for Public Information
Officers of emergency management agencies, fire, police departments, EMS, 9-1-1 centers and other government agencies, universities, and similar institutions. This course will provide PIOs with advanced skills in crisis communications.
Topics covered will include
• Stakeholder Segmentation
• Social Media
• Rumor Identification and Mitigation
• Working with Reporters
Recommended Prerequisites: Prior completion of the online class, MGT-387-W, Advanced Crisis Communications Strategies for Public Information Officers, is recommended. You can register for this class at www.bsu.edu/acct.
