Several people requested Terri's sausage log recipe after Ashley's birthday spread. She broke down and gave me the recipe. Enjoy!
1 16oz package of ground sausage
1 package of cream cheese (softened)
2 cans of crescent rolls
Brown the sausage in your skillet. When cooked, add the cream cheese and stir until the mixture is creamy. (I usually like to use about ¾ of a pack of cream cheese, I personally don’t like too much, but add as much or as little of the cream cheese as you like).
You can cook 2 ways:
- Roll out each can of crescent rolls side by side, (each can makes 1 roll) spread the mixture on top and then roll it up. Sprinkle some poppy seed on top for the finished look. Bake at 375 for 18-20 minutes.
- Roll out in the bottom of a casserole dish 1 can of crescent rolls and then spread mixture over that and cover with the other can of crescent rolls and you have a sausage casserole. Sprinkle with poppy seed and bake at 375 for 18-20 minutes.
Some people like to add jalapenos, other cheeses, even egg to it. Be as experimental as you like!
