Web Analytics Association Sets Measurement Standards
At SES San Jose this week, the Web Analytics Association (WAA) released 26 standard definitions for Web site traffic measurement and analysis, aimed at eliminating the confusion around the most basic Web analytics terms. The document follows the release last year of web analytics definitions focused on the three most important metrics across all analytics software and tools – unique visitors, visits/sessions and page views.
According to Jason Burby, co-chair of the WAA standards committee, the standard definitions aren't just for company techs - the document is aimed at getting marketers, agencies and their Web analytics teams on the same page, as we are all increasingly using Web site traffic, usability and conversion data to manage and evaluate both off- and online campaigns.
(And C. David Gammel wrote an article - I think - on a similar topic for one of ASAE's e-newsletters recently, but I can't find it online anywhere. Sorry, David. I tried! And I could be wrong. I read so much it all starts to run together. But somebody wrote it, I promise.)

Hi Shawn,
The article won't be out until October in a supplement to Associations Now. I did post the audio of an interview I conducted for the article, though, which you can find here:

The topic of the article is how to measure social media success.
