On Tuesday, September 30, the Mississippi Hospital Association will host an MS DRG and ICD-9-CM Update workshop from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the MHA Conference Center in Madison.
Hospital finance and reimbursement specialists need to understand the impact that upcoming changes will have on the entire system. It is important that physicians understand upcoming changes to ensure that their inpatient documentation will be clear and timely.
This workshop will focus on ICD-9-CM coding guideline updates, including MRSA, pressure ulcers, secondary diabetes mellitus, admission encounters for rehabilitation and more. It will also cover Present on Admission guidelines, post acute transfer rules, DRG changes, inpatient prospective payment system changes, and the final rules on hospital-acquired conditions. It is designed for DRG coordinators, coding supervisors, HIM directors, case managers, quality assurance and utilization review staff, coders, providers, and billers. Five hours of MHA continuing education contact hours will be awarded upon completion of the course.
The speaker will be Jean Ann Hartzell-Minzey, RHIA, CPC, vice president of Minzey Enterprises. Jean Ann has more than 27 years of experience.
The cost to attend is $115 for members and $195 for non-members. To register or for more information, contact Karen Hargett at (800) 289-8884, (601) 368-3263 or khargett@mhanet.org.
