The American Hospital Association’s Hospitals in Pursuit in Excellence initiative and Health Research & Educational Trust affiliate are co-sponsoring a complimentary audioconference Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. Eastern Time on hospital strategies to address challenges that contribute to health disparities. John Bluford, president and CEO of Truman Medical Centers in Kansas City and AHA chair-elect for 2010, will moderate the one-hour event.
Presenters from Truman Medical Centers and Harborview Medical Center in Seattle will share approaches to caring for sickle cell patients outside the emergency room, reaching out to Hispanic women for mammography screenings, and providing interpreter services to navigate the health care system throughout the continuum of care. This new audioconference series is part of the HPOE’s Profiles in Excellence, highlighting strategies and innovations in performance improvement.
