Hospitals can apply through May 21 to partner with nursing schools and community-based care settings to train additional advance practice nursing students under the Graduate Nurse Education Demonstration, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced March 21. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act appropriates up to $200 million over four years for the Medicare demonstration to expand the primary care workforce. Up to five hospitals will receive reasonable cost reimbursement to provide qualified clinical training to clinical nurse specialists, nurse practitioners, certified registered nurse anesthetists and certified nurse-midwives.
