All Mississippi RN licenses expire on December 31, 2012. The RN renewal period is from October 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012.
If a license is renewed after December 27, 2012, the online licensure verification system may not reflect the current status of the license until January 3, 2013, due to the New Year’s holiday. With this in mind, please encourage your nursing staff to renew as soon as possible within the renewal period to avoid last minute anxiety and unforeseen difficulties.
Hardcopy renewal applications will not be posted to the Mississippi Board of Nursing website. RN renewal is online. Online renewal payments must be made by either credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express) or Electronic Check.
The Mississippi Board of Nursing has implemented a paperless licensure system. License wallet cards will no longer be distributed. Employers and licensees may check the status of a license by using the board’s online license verification at no cost.
Reminder: Practicing with a lapsed license constitutes practicing without a license. Therefore, strongly encourage your nursing staff to renew as early as possible to avoid confusion that may result in staffing issues.
