It should be noted that Dr. Smelstor has resigned her position at Truman Medical Center but not before sending out letters demanding that students repay outstanding balances at an accelerated rate. Some of these rates would result in an employee's take home pay cut in half or even worse! She refused to respond to phone calls or requests for personal meetings. Once the legal department reviewed the information it was determined that the letter she sent was unenforceable. What Dr. Smelstor tried to do is deplorable and I hope some day she will have the decency to explain her actions or to issue an apology.
